Sewer Video Camera Inspection

If there’s an issue with your drainage or sewer system, it can be difficult to pinpoint the issue. Excavation may need to be done to find the source of the issue.  But before digging up the sewer lines, there is an easier way through the use of specially designed video cameras.

With these cameras, our commercial plumbing experts can examine your system and find the problem in a snap! Here’s how.

The Sewer Camera Inspection Process

sewer camera inspection action plumbingSewer camera inspection provides an accurate, visual inspection of underground sewer lines and other piping, determining the condition inside the pipe. It allows a unique underground view of the pipes without excavating.

The process is relatively simple. A flexible rod with a specially designed, waterproof video camera on its tip is inserted into the pipe. As the rod is pushed through the pipe, the high-resolution video camera records and it progresses through the pipe. Images are transmitted to the camera operator in real-time via a closed-circuit TV screen and can be saved for later use.

Once reviewing the footage, our technicians can accurately discover the root of the problem and recommend solutions. Once the problem is fixed, our technician will conduct a follow-up inspection to make sure everything is working properly.

What Can a Sewer Camera Inspection Uncover?

Video cameras may be used to identify obstructions and damage that inhibit proper flow or create occasional or repeated backups. The camera also verifies that obstructions have been removed and that the lines are clean following service. The condition of a drain line typically cannot be determined without a visual inspection using an in-line camera.

Other problems that can be identified during a video camera inspection include:

  • Damaged pipes, such as cracked or broken pipes in heavily trafficked areas, requiring repair or replacement
  • Misaligned sewer pipes due to shifting soil, frozen ground, settling, etc.
  • Any blockages in the pipes, such as grease buildup, roots, or a foreign object prohibiting or restricting proper flow
  • Deteriorated or broken pipes, causing collapses in the line and restricting the flow
  • Sunken sections of the pipe caused by ground or soil conditions, creating a valley that collects paper and waste
  • Seals between pipes have broken, allowing water to escape into the area surrounding the pipe
  • Tree or shrub roots have infested the sewer line, preventing normal cleaning and/or have damaged the line
  • Existing pipes are constructed of substandard material that may have deteriorated or corroded through time

When Do You Need Sewer Video Inspection Services?

Any time you experience drainage problems such as drain line backups, clogged pipes, or slow drains, it is highly recommended you get your sewer inspected. Another indicator is a high water bill, which may be the result of a sewer line leak.

The ability to perform a video camera inspection pinpoints the exact diagnoses of pipeline problems. This eliminates guesswork, which can save you valuable time, money, and unnecessary digging expenses.
